The History of Kangarootime
Kangarootime was founded in 2015 with the goal of equipping early childhood education providers with the tools they need to efficiently run their business. Founder & CEO, Scott Wayamn, became passionate about early childhood education at the age of twenty-eight when he unexpectedly adopted his youngest brother after their parents passed away. He got a first-hand look at what these providers experience on a day to day basis—especially since he was the parent that was always running late and forgetting to pay his bill on time. Scott developed Kangarootime with the goal of automating the business and alleviating tedious administrative work, so early childhood educators can focus on what really matters: the children.
The Journey to Buffalo, NY
With the idea in motion and the platform built, Kangarootime was ready for success. However, the company was running out of money, and fast. Scott had to borrow money and essentially drain his life savings to cover payroll. It was looking like this might be the end of Kangarootime. Luckily, there was a startup competition offering $1,000,000 to the winner and $500,000 to seven others if they moved to Buffalo. Scott applied and was one of the winners to receive $500,000. That investment saved Kangarootime and helped us become what we are today. Scott moved the company to Buffalo and the rest is history.
